WELCOME

Henrico Baltimore was the first formerly enslaved person post-Civil War to purchase land in the West Africa community located in Warren County Virginia. We are here to restore and honor our family land. We are excited to take you on this journey.

OUR MISSION

The Henrico Baltimore Family Cemetery Foundation is a nonprofit 501c3 organization dedicated to honoring, identifying, and memorializing the enslaved people of the Painter Plantation and many more burials associated with the West Africa community, which developed in the era of reconstruction and into the early 20th century.

WAYS TO DONATE

The first parcel of land was sold to Henrico Baltimore, formerly enslaved, in 1870. This became the community of west Africa.
